These rich, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate truffles are surprisingly easy to make with just a handful of ingredients. Perfect for holidays, gifts, or an elegant homemade dessert.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Chill Time: 2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours 20 minutes
Yield: About 24 truffles
Ingredients
Chocolate Ganache
8 ounces (225 g) semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For Coating (Choose One or More)
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Powdered sugar
Finely chopped toasted pecans, almonds, or hazelnuts
Chocolate sprinkles
Shredded coconut
Melted dark or white chocolate (for dipping)
Instructions
Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream just until it begins to simmer (do not boil).
Pour the hot cream over the chocolate. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes.
Add the butter, vanilla, and salt, then stir until smooth and glossy.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours, or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.
Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out portions of the ganache and quickly roll them into 1-inch balls with your hands.
Roll each truffle in your favorite coating, or dip them in melted chocolate and place them on parchment paper to set.
